▶️ Intro to Guardrail & Real-Time DeFi Security with Samridh Saluja

I sat down with my colleague Adam to explain why I founded Guardrail, why security is close to my heart, and what Guardrail is doing to solve the challenges with web3 and DeFi security.
Traditional smart contract audits catch baseline issues but miss real-world, post-deployment threats. Teams need continuous, real-time monitoring like they have for frontend/backend systems.

Hey, welcome to Guardrail! 👋 I'm Samridh, the Founder at Guardrail.

I've embedded my video interview below for you to watch.

I would also love you to connect with me so we talk web3 security:

TL;DR

Who is Samridh Saluja?

  • I graduated from University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Computer Science
  • Before starting Guardrail I was a Security Engineer at LinkedIn
  • In my career to-date I've worked on over 250 incident responses
  • Security is in my blood! Both my parents work in cyber security

💡 Why I started Guardrail:

  • I identified a massive gap: crypto TVL has grown 100x since 2020, but security hasn't kept pace
  • Single hacks now exceed entire 2020 crypto market cap

Why Guardrail exists:

  • Traditional smart contract audits catch baseline issues but miss real-world, post-deployment threats
  • Teams need continuous. real-time monitoring like they have for frontend/backend systems
  • Current tools require massive in-house resources most teams can't afford

The problem:

  • Every major hack in 2024 happened on audited code
  • Attackers exploit the gap between audit completion and real-world deployment
  • Security complexity increases as protocols expand across 25+ chains rapidly

Guardrail's approach:

  • Real-time transaction monitoring with AI-powered anomaly detection
  • Custom "guards" that check protocol-specific logic and invariants
  • Automated response capabilities (alerts, pausing, fund protection)
  • <1 second response times across 24+ blockchains

Industry evolution:

My prediction for 2025/26 is that we will shift from "security as afterthought" to "security documentation as standard" - similar to how Web2 evolved from HTTP to HTTPS and sandbox browsers.

The bottom line is this 👇

As crypto matures and scales, the industry needs infrastructure-level security solutions rather than one-off audits to prevent the headline-making exploits that undermine mainstream adoption.
